GXVE Beauty: I’m Still Here Liquid Lipstick in Original Recipe + Can’t Stop Staring Mascara

by Loni Venti

I’m probably biased, but I think this is 213deli’s best drop yet. Here’s why:

I was in junior high when No Doubt’s Tragic Kingdom changed my world. Heavily scratched from overuse, the CD had a permanent residence in my sticker-coated Discman. I played it all morning while straightening my hair and fumbling with smudgy eyeliner. And again every night as the soundtrack to homework, landline phone calls, and friend hangs. It was with me on the bus, in the schoolyard, at the mall—you name it. This album spoke to my soul. The funky reggae drums. The ska-punk vibes. The angsty alt rock lyrics with a badass girl POV for a change. I LOVED it. And above all, I loved their fearless female singer: Gwen Stefani. She was cool, beautiful, tough, strong. She could rock out harder than the guys. She was an icon-in-the-making and the hero that so many of us needed. All this without ever smudging her signature red lip.

Fast forward almost three decades (sheesh) and No Doubt still tops out my Spotify Wrapped year after year. I’m now a red lipstick enthusiast myself, so much that I’ve spent my whole adult life writing about beauty. I’m so lucky to have written for Cosmo, Allure, Glamour, People, Harper’s Bazaar, Byrdie, Teen Vogue and many more. I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast and back to work on creative projects for beauty brands I love. I even had a kiddo along the way. Hi, Leo! Through it all, my admiration for Gwen Stefani remains rock-steady. Watching her climb to international music, TV, fashion, beauty megastar—as well as a mom—is so damn empowering. And our girl is still killing it with that red lip.

GXVE Beauty

So I was stoked when 213Deli asked me to review Gwen’s actual signature red lip from her cosmetics brand, GXVE Beauty.

If you’re not familiar, GXVE (pronounced “give”) is a bold, expressive, clean, sustainable makeup brand created by the queen herself. But it’s not just another celebrity makeup brand. According to Gwen, “GXVE is for that community of creative people who love makeup, who want to express themselves through makeup, share that with each other, and learn from each other.” Count me in. The packaging is super cool with an eye towards sustainability. The formulas perform as well as their founder does and are clean, vegan & cruelty free.

This liquid lipstick is bananas. It’s one of the best I’ve tried. The applicator swipes on seamlessly. The formula is richly pigmented. Just one pass gives major payoff. It’s super lightweight so you’ll forget you’re wearing it. It also smells like cake batter…for a sweet escape. It doesn’t fade, feather, or smear. I apply one coat over lip balm, without liner (just for speed and ease, feel free to line if you like) and it is crisp, defined, and lasts all day long.

GXVE Beauty

The GXVE Can’t Stop Staring Mascara, is hella good too. It has a precision brush that grabs and separates every teeny lash. It lifts, lengthens, defines, without a clump in sight. The super comfy formulas feels weightless and touchable despite the ultra black pigments that really make lashes pop.

Even if you’re not a total fan girl like me, I’ve no doubt that you will love these products. So, what you waiting for? Get into GXVE Beauty. The magic’s in the makeup. And you—past, present, and future—deserve all the magic.
