Rael: Heating Patch for Menstrual Cramps + PMS Cramp & Bloat Supplements

by Nicole Collins

Ten years ago I started seeing an acupuncturist weekly, and now I wonder how I ever wandered the planet without his sage guidance. Not only has he kept me healthy for a decade, he has also educated me on how the human body really works. Everything is interconnected. Yes, stress actually physically manifests itself and causes real pain and other symptoms and can affect your hormonal health, which affects everything.

Women’s bodies are so complex, running on a 24-38 day moon cycle with four hormonal phases that affect our energy levels and even our skincare needs. Call me woo-woo if you want, but I really feel like we’re in the midst of a global awakening. There are so many more open conversations now than ever before about Feminine Care, and I’m here for it. The more educated we are, the healthier and happier we are.

There are some truly epic, female founded (AMEN), Feminine Care brands doing the good work of educating women around our four hormonal phases and putting out amazing, clean and healthy products that support each phase of the cycle. The Cliff’s Notes version of the moon cycle is this: menstruation is when we bleed, follicular is when our eggs are growing, ovulation is when the ovary releases a mature egg and luteal is when the egg reaches the uterus and before we menstruate again. During each phase our hormone levels adjust, which affects our mood, energy levels, libido and skin. Cycle synching is when you adjust your supplements and diet, exercise routine and even skincare routine based on which phase of your cycle you’re in so that you always feel your absolute best.

Rael has been a leader in this space since they launched in 2017, and I’ve been a fan from the start when I started buying their organic tampons. The brand was founded by three Korean American women who wanted to introduce clean, Korean innovation to the US market where less than 10% of feminine care products are clean (versus 30% in Korea). Like your pulse, temperature, breathing rate and blood pressure, periods are one of the most important vital signs when it comes to a woman’s overall health. Rael is on a mission to empower menstruators to incorporate cycle care into their everyday self-care.

The brand has a bevy of amazing products for every phase of your cycle from organic tampons and pads to supplements, vulva care and skincare. Two of my favorites are the PMS Cramp a Bloat Supplement and the Menstrual Heating Patches.

I started really taking vitamins about 4-5 years ago. I went all the way down the rabbit hole in my research, started taking a bunch of things like a B Complex and probiotics and could really feel the amazing physical effects of taking great vitamins every day. My acupuncturists also educated me about taking different supplements during different phases of my moon cycle, and that’s when I fell in love with the Rael PMS Cramp & Bloat Supplements.

They’re a blend of totally natural (no drugs) bioavailable adaptogens including turmeric, ginger, and black pepper, which are easily absorbed by the body and help it adapt to stress and provide quick relief from common PMS symptoms such as menstrual cramps and bloating. Additional minerals like magnesium, vitamin B6, vitamin D, and zinc aid in healthy digestion, boost the immune system, and reduce mood swings and irritability. They’re also clinically tested for efficacy, vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, allergen-free and independently tested for quality assurance. You can take 2 capsules at the earliest sign of symptoms if your symptoms are occasional. If your PMS symptoms are like clockwork every month, then you can begin taking 2 capsules four days before your menstrual cycle and continue until day three. The brand suggests you don’t take them for more than 7 days per cycle. For the girlies who get serious symptoms every month, use these regularly for 2-3 months and then beyond to get the best results.

The Menstrual Heating Patches are also total game changers if you ask me. You stick them on your underwear or maybe your leggings (not directly onto your skin) over your abdomen or lower back, wherever you feel it the most. They’re made with iron and activated charcoal that starts heating up when you take them out of the package and put them on, and they stay warm for 8 hours! They’re also infused with botanicals (rose flower oil, lemon peel oil, and jasmine essential oil) that soothe abdominal discomfort, reduce bloating, and improve mood and energy. It’s like mom’s old fashioned hot water bottle trick for modern day.

I could wax poetic about everything the brand makes, to be honest. I’m a huge fan of the entire movement and similar brands that are creating healthy, efficacious products for women with our hormone health top of mind. For now, I’ll leave you with this and encourage you to hit me in my DMs to continue the convo if you’re as excited as I am about living well!
