Saltair: Body Wash & Lotion - Island Orchid

by Corey Weiss

If you told me fifteen years ago I’d be neck-deep in the beauty world testing products left and right, I probably would’ve laughed you out of the room. But here I am, a full-fledged convert, preaching the gospel of self-care to anyone who’ll listen. And let me tell you, if I could hop in a time machine and whisper one thing in my teenage self’s ear, it’d be this: skincare is your BFF, man.Trust me.
I grew up in Los Angeles playing competitive sports and chasing girls. After college, I combined my love of technology and storytelling to work on building brands in the entertainment industry with companies like Sony Pictures and Yahoo. I started working with influencers when they were called YouTube Beauty Gurus and joined the founding team at IPSY, the world’s largest beauty subscription service. That immersed me in the wonderful world of beauty and self care, and I haven’t looked back. It’s been a fun ride for almost 15 years, and one thing that has really changed me is the realization that beauty products and the rituals we have around them are really about boosting confidence and moving through the world with our best foot forward. That I can totally get behind. I’ve also worked with dozens of incredibly passionate women who have turned me on to products that have totally upgraded my own routine.

So maybe I never thought I would be talking about body wash and lotion, but I have been taught that when something works this well, you gotta spread the word. The promise of an “island escape for my skin” from the Saltair Island Orchid Body Wash + Lotion piqued my curiosity for sure. When I learned that Saltair founder Iskra Lawerence was on a mission to make sure every person can feel comfortable in their own skin, I was fully sold. That’s what all of this is all about after all.

First Impressions: Beach Vibes in a Bottle. Minus the Sand.

The packaging is sleek and stylish, not your typical flowery girly-girl look, which doesn’t land for me personally. It’s aluminum, which is sustainable. That wins points in my book too. Plus, the Island Orchid scent? Think tropical flowers (not grandma’s perfume) with notes of jasmine, frangipani, driftwood and warm musks. It smells like tropical flowers at a Hawaiian hotel. Light, fresh, and perfect for escaping the daily grind even if it’s just in your shower.

The Lather Lowdown: Gentle Giant or Sudsy Dud?

One pump dispenses a rich, creamy lather that feels luxurious without being over the top. No harsh, drying suds here. Just a gentle cleanse that left my skin feeling soft and refreshed. Bonus points: no weird tightness, which is a win for even the most sensitive skin types (like yours truly). Part of Saltair’s beauty is that their products are created to deliver efficacious results and are formulated with active skincare ingredients, nourishing oils and exotic botanicals to treat the skin. In the case of the Island Orchid Body Wash that includes orchid extract to stimulate the skin, red algae to moisturize, guava packed with vitamins and antioxidants to firm and combat free radicals and hyaluronic acid and seawater to help skin retain moisture and stay plump and soft.

Lotion Love: From Ashy Dude to Hydrated Hero.

Winter does a number on my skin, leaving it drier than a desert tumbleweed. But the Island Orchid Lotion? It’s like a superhero for parched skin. It absorbs quickly, leaving no greasy residue, and the hydration lasts all day. The formula is packed with good-for-your-skin ingredients including orchid extract, coconut oil to hydrate and soothe, cupuacu butter that’s ultra hydrating and locks in moisture topped off with licorice and niacinamide to improve skin’s texture. No more embarrassing ashy flakes interrupting my high fives. Beyond the Basics: The Perks of Plant Power. Saltair scores major points for using sustainable packaging and natural ingredients like orchid

Beyond the Basics: The Perks of Plant Power.

Saltair scores major points for using sustainable packaging and natural ingredients like orchid extract, red algae, and coconut oil. Everything smells amazing and is truly good for your skin. Plus, the products are cruelty-free and paraben-free, so you can feel good about what you’re putting on your body.

The Verdict: Island Escape Approved.

So, would I recommend the Saltair Island Orchid Body Wash + Lotion combo? Absolutely! It’s a luxurious way to take care of your skin, with a scent that’s anything but boring and not too floral for a guy’s guy. Plus, it actually works. My skin feels softer, smoother, and dare I say, more confident? And hey, if it can make me feel like I’m chilling on a beach somewhere, even when I’m stuck in the city grind, then that’s a win too.

Bonus Tip for Anyone Looking for a Great Gift.

Looking to treat yourself or a pal? Saltair has it all, and all at a great price too. For gifting I always turn to the candles, body oils and lip oil balm. They’ve got something for every skin type and mood. And who knows, maybe you’ll find your own personal island escape in a bottle. Thank me when you start getting compliments on your glowing skin. You heard it here first from a product-testing married dad who knows a good thing when he sees (and smells) it.
